Hello from the Codfather:
Below are a few answers to questions commonly asked regarding our TOURS, (triking across Newfoundland on an ATV or Quad’s as they are referred to in Newfoundland)
How to become included in a group or put together your own group?
You’ve already taken the 1st Step in getting there…It only takes a $200.00 deposit to guarantee your spot on a trip of a lifetime; not to mention, you will be traveling 1st Class all the way.
You will spend 7 days on the trail. We use to do it in 6; but by listening to our clients we’ve added an extra day, which gives you more time to relax, explore and see different things away from the railbed throughout your excursion.
Outatime Tours are presently scheduled to board the Joey & Clara Smallwood on Fridays around 9.30 PM and the ferry leaves at 11 PM. We should arrive in Argentia Saturday around 1.30 PM at which time we will head out towards Come By Chance. On Sunday we will travel to Gander and on Monday we will be staying in the Badger or around the Buchans area. Tuesday will see us crossing the Gaff and sleeping in the Deer Lake area. Wednesday we will travel to the Cornerbrook area via the Goose Arm. Thursday we will travel to Black Duck via the Lewis Hills and on Friday we will travel to Port aux Basques where you will have the opportunity to shower before having supper as a group.
Around 9.30 PM we will proceed to the ferry terminal where, due to a potato blight that they had, they will wash down our bikes before getting into the line up to board the ferry around 10.30 PM; arriving back in North Sydney Saturday morning. After loading up our bike and saying our goodbye’s you will head for home with many fond memories and the urge to do it again; but, hopefully, not before losing the 5 or 10 lbs that you will have gained from eating great food throughout your tour.
*Please remember that it is 1st come 1st serve; please don’t miss out because someone can’t make up their mind. We will not live forever so enjoy life now that you have the chance.
Additional Information and Re-cap:
I will meet you in North Sydney at a set time and location; we will get our bikes ready prior to parking our vehicles in a secure location--we then ride our bikes over to line up for the ferry. From here, we normally walk over to Rollie’s on the Wharf for a late supper and a cold drink before boarding the ferry to Argentia. It’s approximately a 14 hours crossing; thankfully, you’ll be sleeping for part of this.
The 1st day on the trail (Saturday) is an exciting day; the 2nd day (Sunday) is a full day; but, great riding. The 3rd day (Monday) is an easy day and the 4th day (Tuesday) is a fantastic day with the opportunity at the end of the day to do laundry. The 5th day (Wednesday) we will be exploring the Goose Arm area, which certainly will be fun. The 6th day (Thursday) is a very easy day with the 7th day (Friday) being a full day with great picture opportunities! Of course, I’m not saying that it’s the only day; as every day is great.
Please note:
On Tuesday we cross the Gaff Topsails; to date, each group has experienced something different on the Topsails—a definite must see!!!! During the 7 Days of your excursion crossing NL you will have traveled approximately 1000 km; 65% on the old railbed and 35% on trails that I’ve found over the years, which some of them were create by me as far back as 1993.
After a date has been agreed upon and you’ve sent in your deposit, I will send you an itinerary and a list of items you should bring along to make your trip a little more pleasant and comfortable.
Please make out cheque or money order out to “Roger D Cormier” or “Outatime Tours” and mail it to the address below. Thank You and Welcome Aboard!
